Overnight Mason Jar Oatmeal
In the Louisiana hot months, most of us hate to cook. Here is a recipe that takes the heat out of hot cereal and makes it scrumptious and healthy.
Ingredients:
1 glass mason jar |
1 cup of rolled oats (instant or not) |
2 cups of favorite milk (low fat, almond, coconut, rice, etc.) |
1 tbsp. of maple syrup |
1 tsp. of vanilla |
1 tsp. of cinnamon |
1 tsp. of ground ginger |
1 tsp. of ground nutmeg |
Additional: any dried or fresh cut fruit, fresh berries, nuts, or other ingredients you wish to mix before serving |
Instructions:
1 | Add all ingredients (except additional ingredients) and mix well by shaking or stirring within the mason jar. Seal the lid on tight and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight. |
2 | In the morning when you are ready to eat the oatmeal will become a pudding like porridge. Add your additional ingredients and stir well. Best served cold on a hot summer day. |
